Dear Editor:

We appreciate the contribution of Prof. Dr. Carlos Marcondes Brisola to the article entitled Eclectic feeding behavior of Lutzomyia (Nyssomyia) intermedia (Diptera, Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) in the transmission area of American cutaneous leishmaniasis, State of Paraná, Brazil1. In response to the questions raised by Prof. Carlos, we wish to emphasize that, although the authors1 and other researchers2 consider and know the importance of other taxonomic proposals published thus far, we chose to use the taxonomic key proposed by Young & Duncan3 deeming it fit to be applicable to our research.

Further, we would like to mention that adopting the key by the above authors for reference did not demerit and/or disrespect the contributions by other authors4,5, since an author can adopt any approach for study depending on his/her needs.

Lastly, we believe that the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine prioritizes professionalism concerning their publications, which includes a philosophy ruled by rectitude and democracy, seeking distinctness on the knowledge of disclosure.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

The authors declare that there is no confl ict of interest.
